The band was formed in Genoa in October 1996 by Wild Steel (vocals), fresh out of Projecto, and Andrew Mc Pauls (keyboards). The band recorded its first demo tape with four tracks inDecember of the same year without the aid of guitars. The lineup stabilized with the entry of André La Fisìc on guitar, Steve Vawamas on bass, and Gianca on drums; a second demo containing four more songs was produced a few months later. Thanks to a contract with Underground Symphony, the band recorded its first album which saw the participation of members from Labyrinth, namely Olaf Thorsen, Chris Breeze, and Frank Andiver. Andrea Torricini and Vic Mazzoni also participated in the album. The title is Shadows of Steel, self-titled, which tells a story of fantasy and madness born from a mind that travels through time and space. The lyrics leave the listener a certain freedom of interpretation. In March 1998, the combo recorded the double mini-CD Twilight.
Drummer Frank Andiverbecame an official member of the band, and the guitar parts were entirely performed by VicMazzoni. The new work was released in November of the same year and contained four original tracks and four covers of American heavy metal bands, specifically: Agent Steel, Explorer, Savage Grace, and Crimson Glory. For the new full-length album titled Second Floor, the band enlisted two new guitarists, Yackson and Ice Reaven. The album was released with a significant delay in 2002, this work finishes what was started with the first album maintaining the same writing style: theatrical and sharp voice, symphonic arrangements, and melodic solos. Given the latency in publications, the drafting of new songs was slow to start, and Wild Steel dedicated himself to projects and collaborations such as Athlantis and Soulblaze. In 2007, Wild Steel’s first solo album was released, and in 2011 the tribute to Crimson Glory titled“ Transcending Glory.” In 2011, the band reunited for some concerts, and finally, the successor to Second Floor was completed. The new album titled Crown of Steel was released in 2013 and was written almost exclusively by Frank Andiver, who had left the band about a year earlier. The role of drummer
was covered by Ross Lukather from 2012 to 2016, succeeded by Matt Peruzzi. In 2017, Andrew Spane replaced the outgoing guitarist Yackson, and in 2018, after various changes, the role of bassist was permanently filled by Fabio Zunino (former Projecto). The band completed the recordings of Twilight II with the help of many guests, including André La Fisìc, Francesco Molinelli, Steve Bone, Ross Lukather. A sort of family album that includes four original tracks and four covers like its predecessor. The album was released in digital format only in
February 2022 and on CD in April 2024, enriched with four bonus tracks.
