Savage Lands Premiere Star-Studded Debut Album!

Jason Hesley

After learning about the destruction of Costa Rica's rain forest, Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren and guitarist Sylvain Demercastel formed Savage Lands, the first artist-run environmental non-profit in the music industry. The royalties from their debut album, Army of the Trees, support preservation projects in Costa Rica and other countries. The album releases on February 14, and fans can stream all ten songs now on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy praises Savage Lands for their commitment to protect Costa Rica's ecosystem. The organization collaborates with local and international partners, including Hellfest, which is donating 1 million Euro over five years to support their efforts. Dr. Jane Goodall's institute also partners with Savage Lands on projects in France and Africa, emphasizing the connection between music and nature.

Savage Lands features contributions from various metal artists, including Florian Pons, Poun, and Etienne Treton. They aim to raise environmental awareness through music, as shown in tracks like "The Last Howl," which honors the endangered howler monkey. The album's message is clear: working together is crucial to protect ecosystems. Listeners can support Savage Lands simply by enjoying their music, with 100% of royalties funding their preservation initiatives. The CD and LP are made from eco-friendly materials.
