Out Next Week: Ingurgitating Oblivion - Cadence and Perspective in Desolation!

Jason Hesley

Cadence and Perspective in Desolation was the first work created by the band Ingurgitating Oblivion, which was previously known as Of Trees and Orchids after releasing two albums. The band changed its name during a time when they were in their early twenties, feeling idealistic and inspired as they transitioned into adulthood. They played shows with friends in other bands, feeling that anything was possible. The new name energized the group as they rehearsed in a rundown workshop in Northwest Germany, which had a gritty atmosphere perfect for Death Metal. They renovated the space, heating it with a gas radiator, while remembering the challenging winters and their dedication to practice.

The final track on the album was inspired by a fun challenge with their drummer, Dirk. They motivated him to play as fast as he could for a reward, leading to the song "Slumbering in Relativity. " The band mainly consisted of Florian, Dirk, and Karsten until they added more members in 2001/2002. This earlier trio phase allowed them to make quick decisions and create songs without conflict. They believe the songs in Cadence and Perspective in Desolation reflect the dynamic spirit of that time. Their demo was part of a split album called "Harvest," produced alongside their friends Senescence, who helped capture the raw energy of their music. This work represents the beginning of Ingurgitating Oblivion's journey.
