Doomsday Profit (Durham, N.C.) is pleased to announce the release of “Drive Into The Sun,” the third in a series of monthly singles leading up to the Sept. 19 release of the band's self-titled full-length album.
Reflecting on "Drive Into The Sun," Doomsday Profit frontman Bryan Reed offers the following:
"'Drive Into The Sun' is a bit more upbeat than our usual fare — more inspired by stoner-rock and punk. I think of it as something like Fucked Up driving Fu Manchu's boogie van — right into the sun itself.
"Lyrically, 'Drive Into The Sun" was inspired by road trips our bassist Ryan and I used to take to the NC coast to go surfing. We'd get up just before dawn, drive east, surf and hang out at the beach all day, then drive west into the sunset — sun burning our eyes in both directions. It felt like a metaphor in line with that quote urging you to 'find what you love and let it kill you.' I've always loved that sentiment, the motivation to push through hard times and sacrifice for the things that really matter."
