Chilean band Mar de Grises formed at the beginning of the new millennium and was active for over a decade, creating critically praised albums that resonated with fans. They were pioneers of doom/death music in Chile, blending heavy, melancholic sounds with progressive and melodic elements, setting new directions for other musicians. The band's music was described as an "absorbing listen" that offered a combination of beauty and sadness.
Mar de Grises initially signed with the Finnish label Firebox Records and later joined Season Of Mist, touring Europe extensively. They established themselves as a unique band in rock history, recognized for their distinctive sound and creativity. After disbanding in 2013, they left behind a rich body of work. Now, twelve years later, they are reuniting for special performances in various cities in Chile: Concepcion, Puerto Montt, La Serena, and Santiago, with shows scheduled between March 28 and April 5.
To celebrate their reunion, Ardua Music will reissue three CDs of their best music under the title A Memorable Journey. This will include their early demos, the debut album The Tatterdemalion Express, and the second album Draining The Waterheart, which have been remastered for this release. The CDs will be available on March 28, coinciding with the start of their live performances, and can be pre-ordered from Ardua Music.
The band expressed excitement about reuniting, highlighting the lasting connections formed through their music. The original lineup will perform, and they plan to create an engaging atmosphere for their fans, inviting both long-time supporters and new listeners to experience their music. They aim to provide memorable shows filled with passion and energy, thanking fans for their ongoing support.
