Listen to Ultima Requiem's new single "Baroque Apparition"

Ultima Requiem, the innovative project founded by Loïc Malassagne, just released their new single "Baroque Apparition". Hailing from near Pau and Paris in France, Ultima Requiem merges the intensity of heavy metal with the grandeur of classical crossover and operatic elements. Loïc Malassagne, known for his work with Invading Chapel since 1996, continues to push the boundaries of music by blending lyrical voices, classical influences, and heavy rock.

"Baroque Apparition" is a testament to Ultima Requiem's unique sound, inspired by artists like Klaus Nomi and bands such as Black Sabbath. The single features Malassagne's countertenor and baritone vocals, alongside his multi-instrumental talents on guitar, bass, and keyboards. The drums are performed by guest musician Jim D.

After a first album simply titled "Ultima Requiem," he released a concept album in 2002 based on Farinelli's existence as a magnificent singer, man, and "castrato." This album was chronicled in various magazines (Elegy, Hard'n'Heavy...) and "Triomphe Céleste" appeared on the "Les Disques De La Crypte" compilation. In 2019, the songs "For This World" and the cover of "Cold Song" were chosen by Dutch director Edwin Brienen to appear in the Blu-ray reissue of the film "Last Performance." In 2024, Ultima Requiem returns with a new single and video, "Baroque Apparition."
