Now, with their highly anticipated new album slated for release in the second half of 2025, Irreverence is poised to make waves and claim their rightful place at the forefront of the metal world. Stay tuned—this is a force you won’t want to miss!

Irreverence: A Legacy of Italian Thrash Metal Excellence

Since their formation in 1995 by guitarist/vocalist Riccardo Paioro and drummer Davide Firinu, Irreverence has carved a formidable path in the Italian metal underground. The band solidified its lineup in 1997 with the addition of bassist Giuliano Strozzi and lead guitarist Luca Petrazzuolo, quickly making their mark with two promising early demos that set the stage for their impactful debut.

In 2000, Irreverence secured their first record deal with Stonehenge Records, resulting in the release of their debut album, Totally Negative Thoughts. Despite lineup shifts in the early 2000s, the band’s resolve remained unshaken. They brought in Stefano Bertolotti (lead guitar) and Mauro Passiatore (bass), delivering the critically acclaimed mini-CD Target: Hate in 2003. Recorded at Spiderhouse Studios in Berlin with esteemed producer Harris Johns, the release solidified their reputation as a rising force in thrash metal.

Over the years, Irreverence continued to evolve, self-releasing Into Battle Since 1995 in 2006. The “best-of” compilation achieved global sales exceeding 1,500 copies. By 2009, the band had joined forces with Noisehead Records, releasing Upon These Ashes in 2010. The album featured a guest appearance by Tom Angelripper of Sodom and propelled the band to new heights, with extensive touring and notable festival performances elevating their international profile.

In 2014, Irreverence partnered with Nadir Music for the release of Shreds of Humanity. Accompanied by a European tour and a milestone 20th-anniversary celebration in Milan, the event was immortalized with the live album Raise Chaos – Live in Milan (2016). Their next studio release, Still Burns (2018), displayed a matured sound influenced by the iconic film La Haine, further solidifying their status as one of Italy’s premier thrash acts.

Through decades of lineup changes and evolving musical landscapes, Irreverence has remained unwavering in their mission to deliver authentic, hard-hitting thrash metal. Their 2021 EP Scapegoat reaffirms their relentless energy, seamlessly blending new material with revitalized classics.

With an unyielding passion for their craft, Irreverence stands as a testament to the enduring power of thrash metal, continuing to inspire fans and critics alike.
