The New Mutiny hails from Tidewater Virginia and for the last 5 years has been makes some waves without the assistance of a tropical depressions or hurricanes. Drummer Mikey Johnston and guitarist Jeremy Hettman started jamming together on Halloween in 2013 and those ideas/riffs became the groundwork to sculpt Mutiny’s sound as it progressed forward. In 2018 the pair were able to lure singer/guitarist Jason Huard into the fold to hone the sound even more with his honest/personal lyrical content and the addition of a second guitar to thicken things up. The group quickly went to work writing, recording, and releasing singles on their own while playing shows locally and regionally which quickly helped forge the group’s sonic direction.
What became of those efforts was their first self-titled EP that was recorded in early 2020 and released as the beginning of the pandemic took live performances out of the equation. With nothing to do but to continue to sharpen their musical blades, the group started work on their follow-up effort titled “The Only Animal” which has seen individual singles releases starting in 2022 and is set to be released as a whole before the close of 2023. With the addition of Nick Greene on bass in 2022, the group has started pre-production on a follow up to “The Only Animal” slated to start the recording process in early 2024 with the expectation to have new music out in the same year.
