After years of unavailability, Funeral Mourning's complete discography is once again accessible. The Australian funeral doom/black metal project has been resurrected through a special re-release by Nihilistische KlangKunst, bringing back its devastatingly slow and mournful sound. The reissue, available from March 3, 2025, presents the band's three defining works, "Descent-Left Seething", "Drown in Solitude" and "Inertia of Dissonance", carefully pressed onto limited edition CDs, with only 77 copies per release.
Emerging from Australia’s underground, Funeral Mourning remains a solitary and oppressive force, even eight years after its silence. The mind behind the project, Desolate, is known for his work with Austere, Temple Nightside, and Ill Omen, yet Funeral Mourning stands apart. Doom-Metal.com describes the music as “dirge-like, slow and emotional, at times heart-rending. Despairing and discouraging, the darkness simply clings: every note is hopeless, every atmosphere despondent.”
Released under Nihilistische KlangKunst, this edition offers a rare opportunity for those who appreciate funeral doom and black metal in its most desolate form. With its overwhelming weight and suffocating atmosphere, Funeral Mourning’s legacy refuses to fade. Listen to a preview here.
