Euphrosyne Signs with Black Lion Records and Releases New Video for "Mitera"

Euphrosyne, the groundbreaking post-black metal band from Greece, has officially signed with Black Lion Records and is excited to present their latest video for the single “Mitera.” This track serves as a preview for the band's highly anticipated debut album Morus, set to be released on March 21st, 2025.

On "Mitera/Mother," Euphrosyne takes their sound to new emotional heights. The song explores the profound experience of losing a loved one, particularly the death of a parent, and delves into the existential questions that arise from such a loss. For the first time, the band incorporates Greek in their lyrics, creating a poetic and intense expression of grief. The absence of clean vocals only intensifies the raw emotion, offering listeners a powerful and vulnerable experience.

The video, directed and edited by Athina Tousia, adds a compelling visual layer to the band’s atmospheric sound. The track was mixed and mastered by Psychon (SepticFlesh), with vocals recorded at Sound Abuse Productions studio.

Euphrosyne formed in 2021, when Efi Eva (vocals) and Alex Despotidis (guitar) united under a shared vision of creating dark and adventurously melodic music that pushes the boundaries of post-black metal. In their first year, the band released the singles "Thorns Above The Skies" and "Rattus," which introduced their unique blend of black and melodic metal with orchestral arrangements, along with vocals that shift from powerful growls to melodic and powerful lines, all steeped in themes of depression and isolation.

After receiving critical acclaim for their initial singles, Euphrosyne solidified their lineup in 2022 with George Gazis (bass) and Stelios Pepinidis (drums), and recorded their debut EP Keres. The EP marked the band’s first artistic statement, showcasing compositions that range from the fierce narrative of bands like Deafheaven and Ghostbath to the devastating sound of Behemoth, Gojira, and Gorgoroth.

With a series of live performances alongside acts such as Rotting Christ, Sylvaine, Ultha, and Sakis Tolis, Euphrosyne is positioning themselves as a focused and inspired force in the European post-black metal scene, offering a strong visual identity and a sound that continues to challenge the genre’s boundaries.
