Hardcore influenced death metal band OBRIJ to release full-length debut album ‘JOSEPH.’ The album proudly displays the band’s passion for mixing old-school European death metal and hardcore. Depraved vocals lead the way through a twisted path of raucous hardcore punk elements built upon a foundation of dense riffs and tight, punchy rhythms.
Hailing from Uzhhorod, Ukraine OBRIJ, who formed in 2013, are one of the most prominent active metal bands from their country’s scene. Although the band has an extensive discography consisting of several EPs, splits and singles, ‘JOSEPH’ will be their first foray into expanding their sound to a longer release.
With the current struggle against the Russian regime Ukraine is experiencing, it is painfully and bitterly ironic that ‘JOSEPH’ explores the crimes of the Soviet government under the leadership of Joseph Stalin. The brutal and tragic subject matter is presented in the only way it can be: urgent, unrelenting, and uncompromising.
