On their sophomore record "Better Mistakes" the screamy emotive DIY-hardcore group from Ludwigsburg, Germany, creates a reflective yet unpolished intensity that is displayed in all six songs. Recorded at Fieser Schwan and mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios "Better Mistakes" shows a varied song writing approach with heavy early 2000s influences. Emerging from catchy riff delivery coupled with passionate vocals there's a glimpse of hope shining throughout the record. So despite the downhearted lyrics addressing personal anxiety and mental health as well as social and political issues at its core CAGES' music remains melody-driven and almost optimistic.
"Better Mistakes" is out now by the band with the help of Through Love Rec. (Germany), New Knee Rec. (USA), Shove Rec. (Italy), Fireflies Fall (France), Slow Down Rec. (Finland), Rufen Publishings (Japan) and Mevzu Rec. (Turkey) digitally as well as on limited tapes and on one-sided 12inch-vinyl with a screen printed b-side.
