Blackened death metal band REBEL SOULS release new EP ‘LEVIATHAN.' The EP is a searing, extreme nightmare presented with dynamic angles and catchy passages among cleverly written compositions viewed through a modern lens. Lyrically, the band explores the decline of Western society; the EP’s title isn’t a reference to a giant beast but instead to Thomas Hobbes’ social contract theory as an analytical observation of how it's been twisted by today’s political class.
REBEL SOULS was founded in 2000, originally hailing from Thuringia, Germany. The founders, Thomas Plewnia and Stefan Hielscher, named the band after the second album of Polish legends DAMNATION. After a couple demos, the band went on hiatus but returned with their first full-length, “The Forces of Darkness” in 2017. The band has shared the stage with HEAVEN SHALL BURN, NOCTEM, GRABAK, and DEAD.
‘LEVIATHAN’ consists of four songs, each of them tightly packed with dense rhythms, a strong foundation, and brutal death growls. Their music captures the unrelenting nature of death metal while harnessing the scathing energy of black metal.
