Today metal bands are no longer an exception in Africa - the genre has established itself in many places. But it had to start sometime and somewhere in Africa and Arcana XXII from the Namibian capital Windhoek were there right at the beginning.
"A Return to the Darkland" was put together by the band members who now live on three continents worldwide. These songs represent the legacy of an African band from the very beginning.
Born in Namibia with European roots (Germany, the Netherlands, England, Scandinavia), the band members belong to a minority in one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. The desert state on the southwest coast of Africa, which only gained independence from South Africa in 1990, can look back on an eventful history and was a German colony from 1884 to 1915 before becoming a vassal state of the Cape Republic.
ARCANA XXII - “A Return to the Darkland / Untold” Digi-CD + DVD will be released on February 25th, 2021. The digital single “Sweet Immortal” will be released on October 23, 2020 across all platforms.
